Overview

ART-AN-096 selenium yeast is produced by cultivating Saccharomyces cerevisiae in a controlled selenium-containing medium, followed by inactivation, drying, milling, and blending to target specification. Selenium is incorporated into yeast biomass mainly as organically bound selenium compounds, including selenomethionine fractions, rather than being supplied only as an inorganic salt. This format is selected by nutrition formulators when they need accurate selenium contribution, good premix handling, and compatibility with mineral-vitamin feed systems.

Typical specification targets can include total selenium at 2,000 mg/kg, organic selenium not less than 98% of total selenium, selenomethionine not less than 60% of total selenium, moisture not more than 8%, crude protein typically 40-50%, and ash typically 6-10%. Standard physical form is tan to light brown powder with a mild yeast odor, generally passing 40-80 mesh depending on contracted grade. As an inactivated yeast ingredient, viable yeast CFU is not the functional control point; selenium assay, microbiology, moisture, and heavy metals are the primary release parameters. Related feed yeast materials are listed in animal nutrition yeast.

Applications

  • Aquaculture feed: used in shrimp, tilapia, salmonid, carp, and marine species formulas where organic selenium contribution must be distributed evenly through extruded or pelleted feed.
  • Poultry and swine premixes: suitable for mineral-vitamin premix blending, breeder diets, grower formulas, and complete feed systems requiring controlled selenium inclusion.
  • Ruminant nutrition: used by dairy, beef, sheep, and goat feed manufacturers in TMR minerals, concentrate blends, and lick-block premixes, subject to local regulatory limits.
  • Pet food and specialty feed: applicable for dry pet food, soft-moist feed, and specialty nutrition blends where yeast-based trace mineral carriers are preferred.
  • Manufacturing fit: compatible with ribbon blending, micro-dosing, pelletizing, and extrusion when inclusion rates and thermal profiles are validated by the feed producer.

Storage and Handling

Store unopened sacks in a clean, dry, ventilated warehouse below 25°C, away from direct sunlight, condensation, strong odors, and oxidizing chemicals. Keep bags sealed after partial use and rotate stock by lot number. Typical shelf life is 24 months from manufacture when stored in original packaging under recommended conditions. The standard pack is a 25 kg woven polypropylene feed sack with inner liner; pallet wrapping, container loading pattern, and export marks can be agreed at order confirmation.

Operators should use normal dry-powder handling controls, including dust minimization, local extraction where needed, and personal protective equipment according to the SDS. Selenium inclusion must follow the buyer’s formulation matrix and the maximum permitted levels in the destination market.

Quality and Documentation

ArtemisYeast supplies ART-AN-096 for B2B feed manufacturing with lot traceability and agreed release specifications. Typical test items include selenium assay, organic selenium ratio, selenomethionine fraction when specified, moisture, particle size, lead, arsenic, cadmium, mercury, total plate count, yeast and mold, coliforms, and Salmonella status. A lot-specific Certificate of Analysis is available on request before shipment or with shipping documents.

Documentation packages may include specification sheet, SDS, feed-grade declaration, allergen statement, non-GMO statement where applicable, country-of-origin statement, and documentation for HACCP-aligned, ISO 22000, FSSC 22000, Halal, or Kosher status when available for the contracted lot. Buyers can review our documentation approach at quality and compliance. Bulk quote on request; final specifications, labels, and shipping terms are confirmed during inquiry review.
